Tom S. Chung, AIA LEED BD+C

Tom S. Chung is a principal and design leader at Leers Weinzapfel Associates, recipient of the 2007 AIA Architecture Firm Award and whose work lies at the intersection of architecture, urban design, and infrastructure. The firm’s recent project, the Design Building at UMass Amherst, is the largest academic mass timber building in the US, as well as one of the most advanced wood structures with composite cross laminated timber construction.
Born in Seoul, Korea and raised in the US, he received his degrees in Architecture at the University of Virginia and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Tom is a mentor to the next generation of architects in the office and teaches design studios at universities in Boston area as adjunct faculty. Tom speaks frequently on Advanced Timber Design and serves on design reviews and award juries throughout the country.
